Summer is coming, which means its time to uncover the grills and dust them off. With the hot summer sun closing in, using the stove or the oven may not be an option soon. But there are plenty of meals to prepare on the grill. This 5-ingredient turmeric chicken is one of them, and the seasoning blend is simple to make. It’s a great option for poultry or any protein of your choice, and even provides beneficial qualities.

Turmeric is part of the ginger family and it provides a beautiful golden color. It has an earthy yet slightly bitter taste. One of the many reasons why I enjoy using turmeric in recipes is because it contains the compound curcumin, which holds a number of health benefits, such as being an anti-inflammatory and a strong antioxidant. It also helps decrease nausea, making it great to add into your lemon ginger tea. Though it’s not recommended to take daily, long term, or sometimes during pregnancy.

Whenever I make this 5-ingredient turmeric chicken, I love complimenting it with well-balanced flavors. Any roasted vegetables or salad go amazing with it, or any veggies fresh off the grill. But the carb I love preparing this with (and what my husband looks forward to) is tahdig. My husband and I are obsessed with saffron tahdig and it brings such a beautiful combination to the plate when serving it with this 5-ingredient turmeric chicken.

The seasoning for this 5-ingredient turmeric chicken can be made in advanced and stored in a tightly sealed container for up to 6 months in the pantry. You can also season the chicken a day before if preferred. If preparing the day of, I recommend letting the chicken rest after seasoning, that way it allows the salt and spices to penetrate the meat.
