Looking for a quick drop biscuit recipe for on the go or to complete that morning breakfast? Then you will love these precious lemon Poppy Seed biscuits! Full of zest and a great addition to start those bright mornings!
If you don’t know already, I am a huge biscuit fan. Well, a fan of bread really. I grew up with a bowl of biscuits on the table with our family breakfast. I used to love putting brown sugar on top when the biscuits were fresh from the oven! The best way to end a meal. Did anyone else do that?
I am always going to be making biscuit recipes so plan on future posts! I love making biscuits because they are a great addition to a meal and don’t a lot of effort to make. They are so quick to put together and you can never go wrong with a biscuit on the side!
These Lemon Poppy seed biscuits are so adorable and delicious, I didn’t want to eat them at first. But any dessert infused with lemon has me taking the first bite!
I enjoy how light and fluffy these biscuits but the poppy seeds give a really nice texture. And the glaze! Oh my goodness. I could eat the glaze as a sauce with these little guy! (But I won’t). The glaze is so sweet and zesty!
I seriously could eat these biscuits all day, they are so good!
I really hope you enjoy this! So, try this out and don’t forget to tag me on Instagram or Facebook. I would love to see your creation!
Preheat oven to 350* Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine the flour, baking powder and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Add the 5 tablespoon slices of butter press with a fork or dough blender until it becomes a crumbled mixture.
Mix in the poppy seeds, lemon extract, and milk. The mixture should become cookie dough like. If dry, add milk 1 Tablespoon at a time until it begins to form.
Drop a generous spoonful of dough onto the baking sheet.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes.
In a bowl, combine the powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of milk, and lemon extract until a smooth consistency. Drizzle over the biscuits once cooled.
