This creamy broccoli alfredo pasta has been on rotation in my household for the last few months. It’s incredibly easy to make and takes common household ingredients. It’s perfect for those lazy nights and for kids that love pasta. Most of all, it’s easy clean-up.

For this Creamy Broccoli Alfredo Pasta, it’s best to have all the ingredients ready before cooking. Once the pasta is done boiling, the rest of the steps will happen quickly. So be sure to have all the ingredients prepared!

For the parmesan, I recommend using freshly grated cheese. This will give the pasta a nuttier flavor and creamier sauce. Freshly shredded will also work fine.

Broccoli Alfredo

Creamy One Pot Alfredo Pasta

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz. pasta of your choice
  • 4 Tbl. unsalted butter
  • 2 cups frozen broccoli florets
  • 8 oz. shredded rotisserie chicken or raw jumbo shrimp
  • 3/4-1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)
  • 1 small pinch ground nutmeg (Optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot, cook the pasta according to the directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water and drain the rest. Set the cooked pasta to the side.
  • In the same pot over medium-heat, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter.
  • Add in the broccoli and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the chicken or raw shrimp (whichever you prefer). Cook for 1 more minute.
  • Add the pasta back into the pot, followed by the rest of the butter. Then stir in 3/4 cup of the parmesan cheese and 1/4 of the reserved pasta water. Toss to coat.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook for 5 minutes, continuously stirring. Add in more water until the sauce becomes creamy and the cheese melts. You can also add in the heavy cream and pinch of nutmeg if using.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve.
