In a pot over medium heat, bring water to a boil. Cook the pasta until according to the directions. Drain in colander, reserving ½ cup of water, and set aside.
Reduce the pot to medium-low heat. In the same pot, add the butter and olive oil. Once the butter is melted, add in the minced garlic. Continue to stir, making sure it doesn’t burn, for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
Add in the shrimp, salt, and pepper. Continue to cook until the shrimp turns pink, about 5 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and add in the lemon juice, parsley, and red pepper flakes.
Add in the pasta and toss to coat. Sprinkle with cheese.
Serve with your choice of side.
