Instant Pot Turkey Chili

October 1, 2018

This hearty chili with sweet potato and lime juice brings such a light balance yet flavorful punch for your next meal! It’s not a traditional chili recipe, but it is easy to make and tastes just as amazing.

And what is it that makes this dish non traditional?

Sweet potatoes and lime juice.

Yes, it may sound weird but its oh so delicious! I once took a cooking class in college that included lime juice. I found it weird at first but more so because I never thought of including citrus with chili. However, once I tried it, I loved it! That taste of lime in every bite gives so much flavor that I now have incorporated it into my recipe since. I also really enjoy the sweet potatoes because they really help balance out the rest of the ingredients and makes each portion very filling.

If you do not have an instant pot then don’t worry! This can easily be made in a pot on the stove. Once you combine the seasoning with the cooked turkey and sweet potato, bring to a boil. Cover the pot and reduce to a simmer for 30 minutes. I use ground turkey for my choice of meat but you can use whichever you prefer.

This recipe can also be alternated. If you are vegetarian or vegan, then remove the ground turkey and use the toppings of your choice. And you can’t have chili with cornbread or crackers on the side. I enjoy serving my skillet cornbread or green chili cheddar biscuits with this meal.

I really hope you enjoy this dish! So, try this out and don’t forget to tag me on Instagram or Facebook. I would love to see you creation!
